Zeba Blay is a culture and film critic born in Accra, Ghana and based in New York City. She is the former Senior Culture Writer at The Huffington Post where, in addition to writing commentary on pop culture and politics, she created and produced the annual “Culture Shifters” list. Her writing has also appeared in Film Comment, Indiewire, Allure, ESSENCE, Refinery 29, Filmmaker Magazine, Shadow and Act, The Village Voice, and the Webby Award-winning MTV digital series “Decoded.” In 2021 she published a debut book of cultural criticism, Carefree Black Girls. Alongside her freelance work, she shares original writing on her Substacknewsletter, Carefree Black Girl.
